Eating a diet rich in natural sources of proteins, vitamins and minerals, such a whole grains, milk and dairy products, green and leafy vegetables, is useful in countering thinning hair.

There are a few simple natural ways of making your hair grow thicker. One of them is to simply rinse your hair with apple cider vinegar while shampooing. Alternatively, you could also mix two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar in a cup of water and soak the entire length of your hair with this solution, running your fingers down from the roots of your hair down to the tips. Wait for 15 minutes and then wash your hair with a mild shampoo. Simply adding an egg to the shampoo you use regularly and washing your hair with this is an easy and effective way of thickening your hair. Eggs are a natural source of protein, and they help strengthen the hair and stimulate it to grow thicker. Mixing some gelatin in your shampoo and applying this on the hair a few minutes before rinsing it away with water also has similar effects on thinning hair. Oil your hair regularly with a warm mixture of equal quantities of avocado, olive, almond and coconut oils to which a little honey has also been added. For another remedy, grate a large onion and mix its juice with an equal portion of castor oil and some beer. Apply this mixture all over your scalp and hair and put on a shower cap. After a couple of hours wash your hair with a solution of lime juice or vinegar and water. You should do this once every week in order to make your hair grow thicker. In addition, make a hair mask by blending the pulp of a ripe banana with an egg and then adding half a cup of flat beer and a tablespoon of honey to this mixture. Apply this thick paste on your hair and scalp and leave it on for at least a couple of hours before shampooing.
