Care of Damaged, Weak hair
Care of damaged, weak hair requires measures in several different areas, but it is advisable to find out the cause of the problem if possible. Directly addressing the cause itself will be a lot more effective than undertaking measures in all the possible directions, many of which may not be needed at all.
You should first try to ensure that your diet is proper, so that your hair is getting all the nutrition it needs. This is the most basic thing needed for strong, healthy hair. If your hair does not have the required nutrition, it will not grow healthy, and will be susceptible to damage from a variety of sources. Any subsequent measures will be useless to prevent damage and weakness. Do not try any special diets aimed at nourishing the hair and skin. Hair and skin require a large number of different nutrients, and it is not practically possible to keep track of every single one. Instead, simply ensure that you eat a variety of healthy foods on a regular basis. This is enough to ensure that your body gets all the nutrients it needs.
Remedies for Weak Hair
If your diet is healthy, then caring for your hair is just a matter of following a few basic measures and taking a few simple precautions. Regular washing is of course necessary, but conditioning may not be. This is something you need to figure out for yourself. Many people are able to have strong, beautiful hair without using conditioners, or using only natural conditioners. Some natural conditioners that you can use at home are mayonnaise, coconut oil, and egg yolk. However, for some people, such conditioners are not enough, and they need to use commercially available conditioners, sometimes even special conditioners for weak or damaged hair. Whatever conditioner and shampoo you use, make sure that it suits your hair, and that you do use them neither too often nor too rarely.
Regular combing of your hair is also very important, but you should note that this can cause further damage if done incorrectly. Always comb your hair slowly and gently, and if you encounter knots, use your fingers to detangle them before continuing combing. You should also avoid combing your hair when it is wet. Never scrub your hair dry either – simply soak up the excess water, and then let it dry naturally. Other precautions you should take include avoiding the use of unnecessary products such as gels, relaxers, and dyes, and covering your hair when outdoors, to avoid damage from strong sunlight and wind.
