Silky Hair Tips
Women, more often than not, crave for smooth, silky hair that is luxurious to the touch. Some of us have hair that is naturally smooth and silky. However if your hair is naturally dry or frizzy, there is no need to lose hope. There are quite a few things you can do to bring out the shine.
Needless to say, there has to be regular upkeep. Shampooing and conditioning of the hair is a must. However, be careful and choose a mild shampoo and limit its use. Go all out on the conditioner instead and let it stay for at least two minutes before washing it off.
Treatment and Home Remedies for Silky Hair
Massaging your hair overnight with almond oil also goes a long way in making your hair silkier. Almond oil strengthens the roots and gives your hair a luxurious feel. The hibiscus plant is another remedy that has withstood the test of time, and grime. The plant’s leaves, crushed and applied on the scalp, improve the shine. The hibiscus flower too is helpful. Rubbing it on the scalp produces visible results. The flower’s petals should be ground and added to heated coconut oil and applied twice a week.
Besides this, one can also go for a bi-weekly treatment of the hair using eggs and olive oil. Both of these are very effective natural conditioners. A mixture of mustard oil, curd and lemon also helps in strengthening your hair and softens it. The mixture should be left on the hair for at least half an hour before it is washed off.
Another small step which can go a long way is using real aloe Vera and not just aloe Vera based shampoos. A paste of aloe Vera with your regular shampoo will show telling effects.
Shikakai is a product highly recommended by Ayurveda for smooth silky hair. When mixed with henna, amla and curd, it proves extremely useful in smoothening those curls.
Other than these home remedies, there a number of simple steps one could take to lessen hair damage. Make sure your hair is always covered with a scarf when you are out, especially in the sun. Cut down on the use of the dryer as it makes hair turn brittle. Use a wide-toothed comb when combing your hair and never comb wet hair. Other than this, include a lot of fruits and green vegetables in your diet. Also drink a lot of water at regular intervals throughout the day. Small things as these do go a long way in getting your hair to shine.
