Pregnancy Hair Loss

When you are pregnant you feel at the top of the world. Your skin, your hair  - just about every single thing about you seems to glow with life. Most women notice that their hair too looks much nicer during this period that it ever did. When a woman is pregnant the hormonal changes in the body keep the hair at the growing stage. The hair stays in this stage for longer than it normally does. This is probably the reason why your hair seems far thicker than it ever has, and why it looks so much fuller and shinier. It is only after the birth that the woman’s hair enters into the resting stage. This stage occurs about three months after the birth. During this stage all the hair which has been in the resting shed is lost. That is why women complain of losing hair after pregnancy.

Pregnancy Hair Care

When you are actually pregnant most women are content with their hair. Sometimes, hair may become very dry and brittle. This could be because of a sudden loss of the protein content of the hair. Your hair can look good if you are able to regain the lost protein. For this you should use egg masks regularly on your hair. Beat up two raw eggs and add a few drops of olive oil to this. Apply on the hair. Use a shower cap on your hair and wash it after half an hour. Your diet should also contain proteins to make up for the protein depletion. During pregnancy it is not a good idea to try any alterations to your hair. You should avoid perming or straightening your hair since your hair is in an altered state and the end result cannot be predicted in this condition. You may find that the hair treatment does not look the way you had imagined it. Coloring your hair is probably not advisable for this very reason. However coloring the hair, especially if you get it done by a beauty professional should not cause a problem. You can check with your doctor before you go in for a color change.

Regular oil massages will definitely help your hair feel and look much better. Use warm coconut or olive oil and massage your scalp. If your hair becomes dry and frizzy during your pregnancy this will definitely help it look smoother and silkier. You can also use the fenugreek seeds hair mask to prevent any dryness of scalps. Grind soaked fenugreek seeds to a fine paste and apply on your hair and scalp. This can help remove the dryness of scalps and keep your hair looking healthy.

Winter Hair Care Tips

Most people find that their hair changes completely during the winter months and often looks dry and uncared for. You can change all that and ensure that your hair looks healthy and bouncy with some easy remedies and precautions. The first thing you should do during the winter months is to resist the temptation to wash your hair too often. Due to the dryness in the air the hair is already dry. Washing it frequently only removes even more oil form your hair making it and your scalp extremely dry. Wash your hair only three or four times a week. Use a good quality shampoo and conditioner. When washing your hair lower the temperature of your water so that you use tepid water to rinse out your hair. Very hot water tends to strip your hair of the natural oils which are necessary to keep your hair looking healthy.

Hair Care in Winter

In the winter months, especially, the stripping of these oils can affect your hair very badly and make it look very dry. Give your hair a lot of pampering massages. Use warm coconut oil and leave it on for at least an hour. You can boil some pieces of dried Indian gooseberry in the oil and use this oil to regularly massage your hair during winter. Since dryness of hair and scalp is such a problem during winter you should use a fenugreek hair mask at least once a week. This mask helps prevent the dryness of scalp and keeps your hair well moisturized. Soak three tablespoons of fenugreek seeds overnight. In the morning these can be ground into a fine paste. Apply this on your hair and scalp and allow it to dry. Wash your hair in tepid water.  You can use a home made conditioner with egg and oil in it every week. Beat up a raw egg and add a few drops of oil to it.  Using Henna on your hair is another good remedy for healthy hair. Mix three tablespoons of Henna powder with sufficient quantity of tea and leave it out overnight. In the morning apply this on your hair. Take care that it does not stain your forehead or neck. Leave it on for fifteen minutes and then wash it off.

Other precautions that you can take, in order to ensure that your hair   is not adversely affected by the winter is to avoid wearing woolen caps. This can increase the static electricity in your hair and cause it to break. You can prevent this from happening by first wrapping a silk scarf around your hair and then using a woolen hat. This also helps to guard your hair against the ill effects of the winds.

Care for Curly Hair

If curly hair is not looked after properly it can look unruly and stand out in a frizzy circle around your head. One of the first things that curly haired people need to buy is a good moisturizer. You need a moisturizer that actually adds moisture to your hair. Your shampoo too should be bought with a great deal of thought. You should also take care not to wash your hair every single day.

Curly Hair Care Tips

The natural oils from your scalp are essential to keep your hair looking sleek and ensure that it looks less frizzy. You can wash your hair thrice or four times a week. For the other days you can simply rinse your hair with warm water and use conditioner on your scalp. While tepid water is best for hair of any kind you may find that using cold water to rinse out hair helps your hair look shiny and less frizzy. Allow your hair to drip dry after it has been washed. Don’t attempt to rub it with a towel or even wring it dry. At all costs avoid using a hair drier on your hair. Keep your hands away from your hair since constantly touching it can cause it to look frizzier.

Using coconut oil or olive oil on our hair also helps improve the curls. Use the tips of your fingers to massage in the oil. You can wrap a plastic cap over this at bedtime and wash this off in the morning. If you can’t do this, then you should apply olive oil an hour before your shower and wrap a towel dipped in hot water around your head. You can use a hair mask made by mashing avocado and adding some olive oil to it to smooth your hair down. A raw egg, beaten well and with a few drops of olive oil added to it, also works well on curly hair. A ripe avocado and an egg yolk, when combined together can also make an effective mask. This can be left on the hair for half an hour and then washed.

Mayonnaise works very well as a conditioner and can be worked into the hair with finger tips. This can be covered with a shower cap for fifteen minutes and then washed off.  You should also visit your hair stylist regularly and always trim split ends.  There are various styles that you can try on your hair, to make the best of your curly locks.
